Can I lose my salvation?

As we continue with our journey of growing in salvation, the answers to this question have proven to come in two depending on one's inclinations.  For I start I will give my answer as NO and YES and this is where I build my response from.
The Calvinists have held a belief that they call the doctrine of eternal security or the perseverance of the saints.  I will not bore you with the historic battles that there have been in line with this topic but one that stands out is what scripture says. Interestingly both answers are found in scripture, for instance, Hebrews 6:4-6, 2nd peter 2:20-22 support the answer for saying yes and Philippians 1:6 among many others support the answer for no.  And this for some reason may present a problem on where the truth lies. Some may even think that the bible contradicts itself, certainly not, but what exactly is the answer to our question?
There is a reality of life and that is we all have to endure in our walk of faith, bringing to mind the question or rather the reality that there are some who have fall away from faith. Is this proof that we can lose our salvation, or is it what others have said "that they were not in faith to begin with"?
 Scripture does give us the reality that some did fall away like in 1 Corinthians 10:14, another more evident passage with names given is found in 2nd timothy 1:18-20, or the most famous one found in Matthew 7: 22-23 where many will come to him on that day and claim to have done miracles in his name but he will tell them off because he never knew them.
This may as well raise another question, "is it the same thing to fall from faith and losing one’s salvation?" Reality is that even when we are Christians we still sin and we still fall short of the glory of God. one can ask David or Samson and for the New Testament scholar’s maybe ask peter.  We know that God loves and forgives sins even the worst of kinds but the question is how does this affect our salvation?
 When we sin after we have received the enlightenment what kind of damage is done?  Well, I will not lie to you and say I have the answer but all I know is that the scriptures are true in saying the heart that sins will die but if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us.
 This will be my summary for today when asked the question, don’t be the one to teach others from experience by;

  •  living a life that is Godly and free from the pleasures of this world.
  •  Having faith in God for without faith no one will see God and anything that is not of faith is sin.
  •  Examine yourself to see whether you are in the faith; test yourself. Do you realize that Christ Jesus is in you? Unless, of course, you fail the test. 2nd Corinthians 13:5
this is the reality of us losing our salvation, we know where we stand and I hope it’s not in religion as we shall see next time.
