Gods word

"For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth." {# Am 9:9 } Every sifting comes by divine command and permission. Satan must ask leave before he can lay a finger upon Job. Nay, more, in some sense our siftings are directly the work of heaven, for the text says, "I will sift the house of Israel." Satan, like a drudge, may hold the sieve, hoping to destroy the corn; but the overruling hand of the Master is accomplishing the purity of the grain by the very process which the enemy intended to be destructive. Precious, but much-sifted corn of the Lord’s floor, be comforted by the blessed fact that the Lord directeth both flail and sieve to His own glory, and to thine eternal profit. The Lord Jesus will surely use the fan which is in his hand and will divide the precious from the vile. All are not Israel that is of Israel; the heap on the b...

A Father’s Legacy

(Not my work) Dads, have you thought about your legacy lately?   In case you haven’t, let’s start with the basics:  Webster’s Dictionary says a legacy is “something handed down from one who has gone before.”  Fathers, we will eventually be that “one who has gone before”—the leaver of the legacy.  How we live will influence our children and descendants for generations.  Let me share two stories with you that demonstrate the powerful legacy (both good and bad) that fathers create. Jonathan Edwards was born in 1703 in East Windsor, Connecticut.   He attended Yale University at age 13 and later went on to serve as president of the College of New Jersey (now Princeton).   When he was just 20 years old he wrote a list of personal resolutions.  Among them was “ask me, at the end of every day…wherein I could possibly, in any respect, have done better.” In no area was Edwards’ resolve stronger than in his role as a father....

Repentance

Do we understand when the bible talks about "repent"? this word comes from a Greek word "metamoia" which has one clear meaning all through that being "to change ones mind or change the way one thinks " from both the old and the new testament then the meaning of repentance will actually be , (an inner change of mind resulting in an outward turning around to walk in a completely new direction Hebrews 12:16-17 thus repentance is the foundation for salvation and a person cannot believe the gospel unless he or she repents first .Mark 1:4-15 Acts 2:37-38 Acts 17:30 among others. well we should be careful not to abuse repentance and such are the people who repent on Sunday then live like the devil all week because they think they can get away with it by simply repenting. repentance is not a condition of Gods love and forgiveness but rather God loves you and forgives you way before you even repent such that you do not win his love and forgiveness because...
