GRACE
The way a word is defined really means a lot . for instance the word freedom is defined as "right to do what you want " you will promote anarchy and social chaos. but true freedom is "power to do what you ought " so when we teach on grace and lead people to believe or conclude that "I can sin and get away with it "we are rather turning grace into something filthy or something of immoral desire.
Gods grace is an active change agent in our lives, grace does not forgive us but it changes us. we tend to tell people that we are all sinners so do not judge one another for we will be morally pure only after going to heaven..... well it is possible to overemphasize the love of God if we neglect the fear of lord and we are actually told that is the begging of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10)
I would say that for so long we have been fed with the wrong concept of grace as "unmerited favor" and some have even made it worse by saying "it is getting favor from God when we deserved disfavor" making it a very wrong interpretation of Romans 5:20
The word GRACE comes from a Greek word (charis) which means ( the divine influence upon the heart and its reflection on the life)
Grace is that which God works in and through the life of a person who turns from self-seeking and self-dependence to God-seeking and spirit-dependence Philippians 2:3 is the supernatural grace.
Grace is the power God imports to people in this life who recognize their absolute need for him it is the power to pull it Ephesians 2:8-9
so let us focus on that definition for some time then we finish up on the topic of grace in the next blog Grace 2.
