Anointing and Spiritual Cover


ANOINTING AND SPIRITUAL COVERING.
The origin of the anointing was from the practices of the Jews which could stand to mean several things

  1.                     Ordinarily anointing the head with oil or ointment seemed to be a mark of respect sometimes paid by a host to his guest (Luke 7:46)
  2.                 Official, it was a rite of inauguration into each of the three officers of the Jewish commonwealth A prophet, a priest more so the high priest and the king. (1st Kings 19:16, Psalms 105:15, Exodus 40:15, 29:29,1st Samuel 9:16,1st Kings 1:39)
  3.            This was also used for the recovering of the sick James 5:14, Mark 6:13
  4.                 In the New Testament, we see that the coming of Christ did come and was anointed not with oil but with the Holy Spirit and this was prophesied in the Old Testament psalms 2:2, Daniel 9:25 and many more where we see Jesus as the messiah meaning the anointed one. Which stands for “The chosen one” Acts 9:22, John 1:41 John 1:32 where we see him anointed as a prophet, king and priest.
Spiritual anointing with the Holy Spirit is conferred to us as Christians by God. 2nd Corinthians 1:21 and here we see that “anointing “ expresses the sanctifying influence of the Holy Spirit upon the life of a Christian who is a priest , kings prophets unto God.
There is nothing wrong with anointing someone today with oil but we must just ensure that the purpose of the anointing is in line with the scriptures. Anointing should not be viewed as a magic portion and the oil itself has no power because its only God who can anoint a person for a specific purpose and the oil is just but the symbol of that which God is doing. And this we see in john 14:16 that Christians are anointed by the receiving of the holy spirit for a specific purpose in advancing the kingdom of God. 1st John 2:20, 2nd Corinthians 1:21-22 “Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, but his spirit in our hearts as a deposit guaranteeing what is to come.”
Today some people speak of certain Christians as being anointed, meaning that those people are especially blessed by God because they can do certain things which are more visible than others mostly miracles signs and wonders. We forget that those are gifts and some gifts are not as visible and outstanding like the others and they do not make them more special in any way because we are but one body serving in different functions of the same body (Romans 12:3-8.) and do not forget that all believers are anointed by God.
Friends in simple terms when talking of Anointing we simply mean that we are the chosen one of God and that is the special thing about the anointing and not the so called the hyped concept of it being someone special than the others whom we should fear and worship because of the gift.
SPIRITUAL COVERING
The first century apostolic church did not teach submission to a man like the 21st century churches of today. They taught the submission to Christ. They did not even teach that leaders could provide any coverage because they understood that the lord is the one who covers man. Psalms 91:1
The head of every man is Christ and not the leaders of a church or any other group that may be and the head of a wife is the husband 1st Corinthians 11:3-10  and again in Ephesians 5:22-32 reveals that the marriage institution is a representation of Christ and his bride(the church). Therefore Christ is the only legitimate covering for the church and no leader should or can take the place of Christ as the covering of a church.
Most of the preachers say that the covering protects us but in our context, it has actually become the source of deception in the body of Christ.  Protection comes from God 1st John 2:26-27 and that is why the false teachers come with the so-called cover and start telling people things like God help those who help themselves and everyone believes and follows because the cover has become the lie to the followers leading them to live a life of sin. People believe they were taught and that they are on a firm foundation in the scriptures but they are afraid to question their spiritual cover and do not want to appear that they are not submissive. With such an environment false doctrine will spread like bush-fire in the church which should be the body of Christ.
True leadership will not require new or mature believers to submit to their authority but will lead them to submit to the authority of Christ. Luke 22:24-27 Jesus drove it into his disciples that they would note lord their authority over believers but they will use it to serve the believers. Leadership is to raise up, mature, equip, empower and release. But the church today is all about the pastors and his office that is in charge of the church. We see Paul not going under the covering of the 12 apostles but openly even rebuke Peter for something’s done wrong .well this cannot happen under a cover can it? But we see that Jesus was there covering and they were one body in Christ.
The covering doctrine moves quickly to the flesh with control as a result. It is not wrong to have someone to hold you accountable or advice you in the issues of life because that is exactly what Jesus is asking us to do as brothers in the lord but when the doctrine of cover is in play there is an overemphasis on submitting to the spiritual authority of men when it comes to the submitting to the authority of God. John 10:3-4 the job of a leader is to bring into maturity the believer so that they can hear from God for themselves and make decisions and choices based on what the Lord has told them.
True commission comes from the lord, not man. A number of people will want to be identified serving under a certain cover just to have this selfish and self-centered recognition in the sight of men. It may be important for a minister to be recognized and ordained among men but the true legitimacy and authority of a ministry or minister comes from being ordained by Jesus Christ
Therefore friends the teaching of cover truly should not be what some are trying to tell us even to the point there are books and a whole lot more materials on this the false doctrine of Anointing and spiritual cover but may Christ be the center and hope for our salvation. The true cover is In Christ and the anointing is but the fact that we(believers) are chosen and marked by the holy spirit for God. The gifts are there to help the whole body of Christ not for self exaltation Hebrews 5:14.

ministry

some go for  vot, others Iserve africa and the list goes on and on and the things that most of us do when asked whatwe do for God is endless and do you know something as long as it is right before GOD then it is ministry regardless of what you do so people do not fear when others are telling of the big things just focus on being faithful on that whichyou have been given to do by God . it may be you are a house wife or a teacher or a drive all that is ministry if you bring change that is positive to peoples life. well a common saying "where there is no vision people perish " see what hapens when you make a small change of removing "w" it reads "here there is no vision and people perish " so please dont change your ministry to like othere or else you will give the second meaning be faithful.

GRACE

The way a word is defined really means a lot . for instance the word freedom is defined as "right to do what you want " you will promote anarchy and social chaos. but true freedom is "power to do what you ought " so when we teach on grace and lead people to believe or conclude that "I can sin and get away with it "we are rather turning grace into something filthy or something of immoral desire.
